Questions
Questions runners ask
If your question is not here, call or write and a therapist will answer it.
Do I need a referral?
In Arizona, you can start without a referral. Your plan may still ask for one, and our front desk will tell you before your visit.
Does my plan cover this, and do you take Medicare?
We bill most PPO plans and Medicare. Plans differ in what they cover, so the front desk checks your benefits before your first visit and tells you what to expect.
What if I pay myself?
Then you get a written estimate before your first visit, so you know what care is expected to include. How fees work explains the rest.
How long is a visit, and who treats me?
Your first visit is an hour with a physical therapist, Trinidad Espino or Ezekiel Ivey. Later visits are planned around what you need that week. You see the same therapist each time.
How many visits will I need?
We cannot say before we have met you. What decides it: what we find in your assessment, what you are training for, how your body responds and how close your next race is. We tell you at each visit what comes next.
What should I wear and bring?
Running shorts, a top you can move in and the shoes you train in. Bring a second pair if you rotate shoes, a watch export or training log if you keep one, and your plan card.
Will it hurt?
We work within what you can tolerate. Some tests bring on the feeling you came in with, and you can stop any step.
Do you offer virtual visits?
Some follow-ups can be video visits, in states where we are licensed. Today that is Arizona. A running assessment is in person, because we need to watch you run.
What if I was hurt at work or in a car crash?
If you were badly hurt, get emergency care first. Then tell us who your adjuster is, and we explain how the bill is handled before care starts. Your state decides who may direct your care.
Do you offer dry needling?
Where state law allows it, a physical therapist who has completed dry needling training can offer it, and Arizona allows it with that training. Ask which of our therapists needles and which course they took. We explain the risks before any needle, and you can say no.
